Some pictures from
Geiranger and the Geiranger fjord
It is difficult in few words to point out why the Geiranger fjord
is known to be the most famous of the Norwegian fjords.
We could of
course have used a lot of superlatives to try to describe why, but it is
then much better to describe it by showing some pictures of some of the attractions
in Geiranger and along the Geiranger fjord. As you know: A picture can tell more
than thousand words....
Because of its beauty
and unspoiled scenery the Geiranger fjord was in 2005 included in the
UNESCO's World Heritage List
There are many spectacular view
points along the Eagle road (Ørneveien). This is one of them.
The picture is taken by sunset, early in the morning (180 degrees
panoramic picture).
Dalsnibba (180 degrees panoramic
picture) It is possible to drive by car from
Geiranger to Djupvasshytta (1030 m.o.h.) and further on all the way to the top of the mountain Dalsnibba (1500 m.o.h.).
The trip by car takes about 30 minutes from the centre of
Geiranger.
From the top you will have a impressive view over the mountains
surrounding Geiranger.
The picture is taken in June.
The Geiranger fjord (180 degrees panoramic
picture) This panorama picture is taken
an early morning in June about 10 minutes walk from the Eagle bend. The waterfall in the
foreground is called Gjerdefossen. To the left is the small village Geiranger.
The Geiranger village (180 degrees panoramic
picture)
The picture is take an early morning in June.
The Flydalsjuvet viewpoint (180 degrees panoramic
picture)
The picture is taken in the beginning of April 2010. New snow, but
down by the fjord one can see the first sign of spring.
If you
just follow the main road for about 3 km south of the centre
of Geiranger you will find this view point.
